Lesley Jessop has been part of Le Cercle Polaire since its creation in 2006. In charge of international relations, she is the Project Manager of the ongoing « Call of the Poles » communication campaign, an international human network of individuals deeply committed to raising worldwide awareness of the urgent need to find solutions to issues caused by the rapidly changing polar environment.
Making contact and ensuring ongoing relations with the worldwide English speaking network of polar advocates is the essential part of Lesley Jessop’s role in Le Cercle Polaire as well as participating in exhibitions and sponsor relations. As a member of the board of directors, she is involved in the decision-making process of the organisation.
From 2001 to 2007 as the Assistant to the Editor of Sciences et Avenir and Le Nouvel Observateur hors-séries, Lesley Jessop participated in the research of editorial subjects , in particular, the environment, health and nutrition as well as the culturally different approaches to the various issues involved.
From her arrival in France in1993 to 2001 Lesley Jessop researched and taught English as a second language and cultural differences in communication in both private companies as well as l’E.N.S.E.A. de Cergy (Ecole Nationale Supérieure de l’Electroniques et des Applications) creating tailor-made programs for students and other teachers.
Prior to 1993 in her native country, the United States, with a degree in Psychology from Kutztown State University and continued studies at University of Washington, Lesley Jessop worked in the medical field as an assistant to a group of five Oncologists at The Tumor Institute, a research and treatment center, tending to patient’s special needs such as nutrition, symptom relief and emotional support.
