John Splettstoesser is a geologist. He’s been teaching at the faculty of Ohio State University, University of Nebraska and the University of Minnesota for some 22 years. Most of his geologic field work has been in Antarctica where he spent 8 summer field seasons, from 1960-1961 to 1985-1986. He has authored about 175 publications in his field. He is former president of the Antarctican Society (2002-2004) and the American Polar Society (2003-2006).
