Boris Chichlo is a major expert in Siberian issues. Holder of a doctorate in ethnography from the University of Leningrad, his first field trips were in the ‘forbidden zones’ of the Yakutia and Chukotka (1971-1976) to study the fate of minorities in the Soviet Arctic. Doctor of the Sorbonne, he is pursues in France his research into the transformation of indigenous societies in the Siberian Arctic at France’s National Centre for Scientific Research.
