Aqqaluk Lynge has advocated for the greater autonomy of Greenland while promoting Inuit as one people across the Arctic through the Inuit Circumpolar Council (ICC), serving as Chair for 6 years, currently president of ICC Greenland. A member of the Parliament of Greenland for 16 years, he served as Vice Chair of the United Nations Permanent Forum of Indigenous Issues in 2007. As a poet and writer, he has published a dozen books.
