Jacques chirac is an outstanding figure in French politics. He was an appointed minister of government five terms, Prime Minister twice (1974-1976 and 1986-1988) and elected President of the Republic from 1995 to 2007. Concerning ecology, the former President is renowned for the Appel de Paris Initiative (February 2007). Appellant for the creation of the United Nations Environmental Organisation, Mr. Chirac was also behind the creation of the Musée de Quai Branly in Paris.
