Hernan R. Moreano is the executive director of the Ecuadorian Antarctic Institute (INAE). After studying marine science in the UK and the US, he took charge of the Naval Oceanographic Institute, where in 1988 he organised Ecuador’s first field trip to Antarctica. He was involved in the construction of Ecuador’s Pedro Vicente Maldonado base, built on the Greenwich Island, with responsibility for logistics.
