Geir Tommy Pedersen has been the representative of the Sami Council, which brings together indigenous peoples from the northern parts of Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia’s Kola Peninsula, since 1996. He works for the UN and the Arctic Council, looking into environmental issues and the rights of indigenous peoples. He is currently political advisor to the president of the Sami Parliament in Norway.
