Polar bear seeking for eggs and chicks – Kongsfjorden, Svalbard
No ice in Kongsfjorden, only one iceberg. Hence no seals. The Polar Bear is forced to climb the bird cliffs for optional food. But a few eggs or chicks are nothing for a Polar Bear compared to a meal of 200 kg of nutrient rich bearded seal blubber.
Arnfinn Johansen is a semi-professional wildlife photographer based in Lillehammer, in the centre of southern Norway. He is a member of the Norwegian Nature Photographers Association (NN), an exclusive association of professional nature photographers who share a focus on nature and environmental issues, while upholding the highest ethical standards.
